Spring is finally here. We’re pretty sure your to-do list already feels overly long, but we have a handful of things that can save you some trouble and keep you comfy in the months to come. The weather is already heating up in Franklin Lakes and the last thing you want is to discover is that you’re facing an AC repair. Going through this simple checklist now might save you from sweating this summer.
- Look at Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost every one of our lists of things to check because it's so important and so often forgotten. If your air filter is filthy, your system will have to work harder to keep you cozy. This costs you more money and causes more stress on the system which reduces the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are an additional piece of the puzzle that is often neglected as well. While you're spring cleaning, take off the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers removed, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and swap them after they've dried.
- Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units clear of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can clog your system and cause it to reduce its efficiency.
- Schedule Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we come in to help you tackle that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up helps improve the life of your system and keeps it working at top efficiency. Spring is the perfect time to set up your tune-up so any concerns or AC repair that needs to be made can be taken care of before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a little investment into the life of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.
We can't help you with your entire spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to be sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to schedule your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 201-268-5663.
