The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

An air conditioner or heat pump relies on its refrigerant to cool and dehumidify the air before it’s streamed back into your home. This liquid is housed within the coils of your cooling system, but one of the most common refrigerants that’s been in use for many years – the R-22 (Freon) is now being replaced in response to environmental concerns. In fact, this phase-out was mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be in production.

Introducing R-410A

R-410AChlorine-free and ozone-friendly, R-410A is recognized by the EPA. This means it will cool your home without harming the environment. Even better news, Lennox’s highest efficiency systems are made to use this AC refrigerant, which can help your system operate efficiently. The same Lennox systems are known for durability, quiet operation and better dehumidification, so you’ll stay comfortable.

Additional Considerations

At Total Comfort in Franklin Lakes, our cooling products can work with R-410A. If your system was made before 2010, you may want to consider replacing your cooling system now, before R-22 is completely phased out. Some manufacturers carry alternate refrigerants such as R-407C, R-438A and R-422, however, they may not work with an R-22 AC or heat pump and could compromise your system’s performance.
